Project Flow
Design an interface that connects the next decision to the people, artwork and production details behind it.
Orient the team.
The welcome screen establishes the product’s purpose before the team enters a dense production workspace. Inventory, schedules, approvals and responsibilities belong to one shared plan: a clear starting point for a complex workflow.
Make the next action visible.
Furniture, print and transport deadlines sit together, with missing dates and blocked work drawing attention to the decisions that need to move next. Hierarchy and explicit status labels help the team read priority, rather than decode a collection of data.
Carry design intent into production.
Design, Print, & Fabrications keeps artwork and specifications in the event context. Dimensions, materials, quantities, sources and linked files stay together, so the interface supports both a design conversation and a production handoff.
Why I built it.
Small misses, and sometimes big ones, kept reaching the event floor. Approvals stalled without anyone seeing the bottleneck, and specs were scattered across email, spreadsheets and chat. Design intent was lost between the creative team and production.
I designed and built Project Flow myself. My background in UI, front-end and back-end design helped me choose the right tools, and I used AI coding tools to move from idea to working software.
A clear interaction principle.
Keep the intent and the interaction simple. Each view should answer: what is this item, who owns it, and what does it need next? That principle guides the information hierarchy, labels and workflow, with the goal of helping a team member open the workspace onsite and act with confidence.
The result.
Project Flow is the live production workspace for RKD EXP. It has run 4–10 events, including F1 COTA and NBA, and 40 people have been onboarded. Teams report fewer onsite misses, faster approvals, less status-chasing by email and meeting, and faster ramp-up for freelancers and new staff.
